An Article in the Easy Reader

Image
I'm really happy to share that I was recently interviewed during the Art Walk at the Hermosa Beach Community Garden.  I am pleased that I was able to share my art, and my passion projects with the community, and that the Easy Reader took notice of my efforts. http://www.easyreadernews.com/135475/art-walk-brings-hermosa-beach-support-community-garden/

Today I combined the idea of Plein-Air and Still-life. I was at the Harbor Art Fair all day, so took that time to paint a double canvas. A diptych, a few tall palm trees and an impression of the boats and masts of the sails.  How do you keep it loose and not too fussy? Ideally I would use oils, but did this one in Acrylic...  I can't claim it to be finished yet, but it's good for today.

September 7, 2016 #30in30 Day 7

There are some days when you are too tired or not in the mood to work... or perhaps you're just distracted or have other things going on.  Well, as a mom with three kids and tomorrow being the first day at three different schools, it's one of those. But I committed to doing this challenge and know it's good for me to do something. I know I painted two on Monday, but I still want to focus on Still-life. The result was a loose Watercolor Crayon and Aquapencil Sketch of books. "Children's Treasury of Stories" Aquapencil and Water crayons.

Chives 8" x 24" Oil $175.00 I love my herb and vegetable garden. At the end of summer and early autumn it gives off beautiful chives, lightly fragrant, but not overwhelming.  This year I let it give off a few blossoms, just so I could pluck and paint them for this challenge.

White Roses A couple of Roses from my Friend Dawn's Bouquet arrangement... I Pinched a few so I could paint them. I've decided to keep this painting for our own house and I think the colors are just right. I likes the composition of the flowers against the stones. I used the colors and earthiness to decide how to make the background. The flowers will be painted true to size if I use the long canvas.

Still Life With Apple and Lemons 8" x 10" Oil on Panel $100.00 I worked in the nighttime studio. A still life set with the bistro lights as the only illumination.  It created an unique lighting and atmosphere.  I gave myself 1 hour to get this done.
